HELEN ORR SMITH

Helen Orr Smith 80, died suddenly at her home Friday, May 12, 2006.Shewas a lifelong resident of Savannah. Helen was retired from a 50 plus year career as a bookkeeper and office manager with Mutual of Omaha for 36 years and with Cunnigham, Tallman & Pennington at her retirement. Helen was a lifelong member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church where she was very active. She was a member and Secretary of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was also a member and treasurer of the Monday Afternoon Circle. Helen served on the Administrative Board, as Sunday School Secretary and Treasurer of the United Methodist Women. Helen was past president of the Modern Garden Club of Kensington Park and served on the Garden Club Council of Chatham County. She was a board member and secretary of the Kensington Park Community Association, where she lived for 50 years. Helen was also a volunteer at Candler Hospital.

Surviving are her children, son, Howard L. Smith Jr., and wife Therese of Newman, Ga., daughter, B. Merrill Grayson and husband John of Savannah, daughter, Sandra G. Smith of Savannah, son, David B. Smith of Alamo, Ga., grandchildren, Shannon Thompson of Marietta, Ga., Trey Smith of Marietta, Stephanie Grayson of Savannah, LeeAnn Grayson of Savannah and two great grandchildren, Emmy Thompson and Tess Thompson both of Marietta, Ga.

Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2006 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church with burial in Bonaventure Cemetery.
